Question
What happens if my gate is locked on service day?
Short Answer
If your gate is locked when we arrive, we’ll skip the yard for that visit and continue service on your next scheduled day. You can prevent missed cleanups by keeping access open or updating your gate code in the Client Portal before your route is finalized.
A locked gate is one of the most common reasons our team can’t complete a cleanup. We always want to get the job done, but our technicians can’t enter fenced areas without permission or access. Keeping your gate accessible makes sure your yard stays on schedule.
What Happens When the Gate Is Locked
If we can’t access your yard, your visit will be marked as skipped and your account will still be charged for that day’s route. This is because we still have to scoop everything that’s built up by your next visit. If you’d like us to return after unlocking your gate, we can schedule a $5 re-visit fee to cover the extra drive time.
How to Prevent Missed Visits
You can make gate access easy for our team in just a few clicks:
Visit thelawndogs.com.
Select Client Portal in the menu.
Log in to your Sweep&Go account.
Go to Property Details or Access Info.
Add or update your gate code, combination, or special entry notes.
If your lock is frozen, your dog is out, or weather makes it unsafe to enter, please let us know ahead of time in the portal or by email so we can plan around it.
Tips
Combination locks work best during freezing months.
Make sure your code is correct in the portal before 11:59 p.m. two nights before service day.
Consider using one of our Lawn Dogs-branded locks if you want a shared access solution.
We do our best to keep every visit smooth and on schedule — unlocked gates make all the difference.
